Large End-grain Cutting Board

Looking for a lifetime kitchen companion? This large end-grain cutting board is made to stand the test of time. Made from locally harvested* Oregon Black Walnut and reclaimed* Purple-heart arranged in a beautiful checkerboard design. The end-grain surface is ideal for daily use, tough enough to withstand heavy chopping, but soft enough that it won't dull your knife. All of my cutting boards are finished with an all natural tung oil blend, allowed to cure, and given a final buff with tung oil and carnauba wax. Care instructions will be provided upon purchased.

*What do these terms mean?

Locally Harvested: Either I have harvested the tree myself, or I have purchased the wood from a local vendor who practices sustainable forestry. All of my locally harvested wood comes from trees that were knocked out by storms, cut down by homeowners, or removed due to disease. 

Reclaimed: The wood has come from a thing that was destined for the trash. These sources include scraps from other projects or larger furniture shops, and materials purchased via Portland's deconstruction industry.
